Name of Assignment: Easy Fixes Presentation
Subject: Junior Seminar
Facilitator/Teacher: Cassandra Kepler
Description of Work/Assignment: As the Class of 2024 Juniors head into emerging adulthood, it would be wise to start thinking of ways to make life easier as an adult. There were several topics to choose from, from learning how to manage your money or how to fix a bike flat.
Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?
This assignment addresses Interpersonal Skills because I distributed the workload evenly with Ty, giving respect to his work load as well as mine. I did some of the research, while Ty worked on the slides. Not to mention Ty did the evens, and I did the odd number slides.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?
What I am most proud of from this assignment is doing the work early and not procrastinating. Even after practice I still had a lot of time on my hands. I also loved how the slides stand alone to the presentation; the longest strings of texts you would find in this presentation are only 2 sentences tops. Not procrastinating put less pressure on finishing the assignment, so I am proud of that as well.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment?
I developed my 21st century skill by determining what responsibilities I would do with respect to Ty's responsibilities. I did my part and did not pressure Ty into doing all the work in this group project. I made sure we both had a chance to show our effort in the presentation by taking turns and I can say I have spread the butter evenly.
What was most difficult about completing this task?
The most difficult aspect about this task was trying to find sources that showed us how to use the Quicken budgeting form. Using the actual corporation as a source was useful, but there were a ton of topics Quicken went over, and we just wanted to know the basics.
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do different?
If I could start from scratch, I would address the benefits of all the other companies that are alternatives to quicken. Above all else, everything seemed fine from beginning to end.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past?
This was relatively new for me, I was not too interested in learning how to manage my money. I thought I would learn this later in life, but it would be useful to have some prior knowledge now than in 2 years from now after Senior Year.
How can you apply this to future learning?
I can apply this to future learning when I am eligible to start a bank account or a credit card. I may run into some issues using Quicken or TurboTax, so I will have to do some more research by surfing the web to find reliable sources such as the actual corporate entity in charge of the software.
