- Description of Assignment / Work: This work sample is also known as "The Roleplay Poem." This poem gets rid of your presence in the poem, and shows the best of your poem writing. The assignment calls for a story, some metaphors, and symbols. Besides the roleplay poem, the assignment requests an email to Na Leo publishers containing 2 of your best revised poems to get rid of the shyness that most writers have.
- What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why? I am most proud of the grade I got for this assignment. This was the first English assessment that had a perfect score. I am proud of the poem's diverse structure. It was a good way for the class to transition from poetry to stories.
- What was most difficult about completing this task? What was most difficult about completing this task was thinking about a situation. I've rocked back and forth between the Camp Imua advertisement and the Ice Cream shop, but I was confident that the advertisement would give the reader more vivid feelings and a job.
- How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do different? If I could start over, I would choose a different poem to read, because this one wasn't the most age appropriate nor was it short. I wanted to have less screen time because I don't like hearing my own voice on video. I could try cleaning up the Na Leo poems a bit more.
- How does this relate to what you have learned in the past? How can you apply this to future learning? This work sample relates to what I have learned in the past because it is related to the first submission. However, we have learned a thing or two about symbols and their supercharged meaning. I could apply the symbols to more of my short and long form stories to give the reader a job.
- Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why? How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment? This 21st century skill addresses Communication Skills because the assignment calls for a video recording and an email to Na Leo, the college's literature magazine. Every student will have their video played on a cable class session.
